‘Light steel frame construction is ideal for the residential sector. There is an increasing demand for rapid build, high quality and low cost solutions to housing development projects. The Government's directive for a greater number of affordable housing has resulted in an increase in large scale developments. Prefabricated, modular units provide the perfect solution and can be used for a variety of projects from housing estates to multi storey residential buildings in urban areas’

Galloway homes
The project
The team at EOS have recently competed a pilot scheme consisting of two privately owned houses for client Galloway homes. The project to date has seen the completion of two detached houses over two floors at Port Patrick, Scotland.
Since the pilot project, EOS has been contracted to deliver 17 more houses and a bistro on site. This will form a holiday complex within a 12-18 month timeframe.
The design
The design for this project was conducted in house by EOS from the architects planning drawings. This enabled Galloway homes to reap the benefits of using the skills of the EOS design team.
The benefits
Benefits of light gauge steel frame include cost and durability. Although the frames for the Port Patrick development were erected in January, they could withstand the harsh Scottish weather conditions. Further to this, speed was a key benefit in the process.
Our relationship
Galloway homes are a new client for EOS and since the initial project the team have been retained to take the project to a new level to complete the holiday complex.
EOS was chosen as a partner as they are a one stop design and engineering solution with a friendly and professional approach.
Why light gauge steel frame?
After the client had considered a timber frame solution, it was decided that the price and speed of light gauge steel frame within the construction process was better than timber.
Why EOS?
EOS is different due to speed of delivery, certainty of delivery, and ability to give design and structural engineering from one source. The team are always able to provide solutions to problems effectively.
Key Staff
An integral part of our relationship is EOS’s technical consultant, Nik Teagle. Nik is able to continuously supply the technical backup to issues that may be encountered on site.
Future
Galloway homes are considering further developments using light steel gauge frame.
“The house design was a unique “living in the roof design” which meant it was in a 'room in the roof' design and working with EOS we resolved the problems that that raised to deliver the house to spec, to budget and on time”
